Any action ranks nearby results first when you pass near_lat and near_lon (and optionally near_country). Live flight search and IP geolocation are not offered on the API.
Read responses and errors
Answers are JSON from the maps service, shaped per action: geocode returns results, route returns distance_m, duration_s, steps and geometry, weather returns current and daily. Headers: x-request-id, the x-ratelimit-* headers and x-kaer-cost-usd on every answer from the maps service (0 when it was not charged).
Errors from the maps service keep their own shape, {"error": "bad arguments: …", "code": "MAPS_…"}: 400 for bad arguments (MAPS_MODE_UNSUPPORTED, MAPS_BBOX_INVALID, MAPS_BBOX_TOO_LARGE), 404 when nothing matches, 429, 502 or 503 when a provider is busy or down. None of them is charged. Gateway errors (auth, balance, unsupported_action, maps_unavailable) are OpenAI-shaped.
