In this guide you create an account, make an API key and send your first chat completion. Every endpoint lives under https://api.kaer.ai/v1.

Before you begin

• curl, or Python with pip install openai, or Node.js with npm install openai.

1. Create an account

Sign up at api.kaer.ai. Your new account gets $10 of free credit, once per network, device and inbox, valid for 90 days. It pays for models straight away.

2. Create a key

1. In the dashboard, open Keys and create a key.
2. Keep the models scope every new key starts with, and tick search, maps or mail if you need them.
3. Copy the key right away. It starts with kaer_live_.

3. Make your first call

Export your key as KAER_API_KEY, then send a chat completion. Every sample in these docs reads the key from that variable.

The response tells you what the call cost: kaer.cost_usd in the body and, for chat that is not streamed, an x-kaer-cost-usd header.
